Tru By Hilton Ankeny

I’d never stayed at a Tru before so did not know what to expect. It was nice but very bare bones, no closet, coffee pot or clock. The toilet was running because the handle was sticking straight up so i fixed it myself. There is no way housekeeping could have missed it. It was extremely expensive for what it was. I’ll avoid it next year if possible.

Clean rooms

Very nice hotel in Ankeny. The staff was wonderful. Rooms clean and the building very clean all over. Lots of activity around, such as restaurants, bands, stores, etc.

There was no hot tub and the pool was freezing. There were crumbs and a pubic hair on the bed under the blankets of one of the beds. Breakfast was good with a variety of options and staff was very friendly.

Regardless how comfortable a hotel potentially can be but you can’t offer a hot shower, that’s a shame !

The noise from the AC unit was so bad I couldn’t sleep. I adjusted the setting on the wall mounted controller to “off” but the unit never shut off. When I expressed my concern when checking out one person at the front desk responded “oh” and the other told me I should have contacted the front desk which seemed to be making resolution of the issue mine. Very poor customer care. I have a photo of “OFF” on the controller and video with the noise in the background from the AC unit.

Great location, friendly staff and very clean rooms. The breakfast was really good, with a nice spread. I just wish the beds were more comfortable.

Beautiful new hotel. My only grumble is the morning coffee at 5am was not hot. Very disappointing.

Breakfast was good. We had to contact front desk to get hot water for sink and shower, difficult to get room comfortable with the window fan and air conditioner.

I liked the hotel simplicity and the design of the room, clean simple etc. the bar service was excellent as well as the check-in reception staff. I have stayed in upscale hotels throughout the world. I’m 64 years old and the Tru brand nails what I am looking for in value, amenities and cleanliness N/a

Great Nothing

I understand not everyone will have food allergies and can eat anything that is served at breakfast. I can’t. I was looking forward to a banana and some oatmeal but unfortunately the bananas were way past the ripe stage and had huge brown spots on them and the oatmeal was a watery soup. Gross. Ok well maybe just a tea, Nope not even a tea as the only type being offered was an expired lemon chamomile.
