The hotel was very satisfactory. The location is great because it’s right in the middle of town. The pool was nice for a quick dip after a hot day out. The parking lot is extremely tight. It’s really for compact cars and mostly SUVs are parked there making it tight to get in and out. There was an excess parking lot we had to park in one night and our car was broken into. Breakfast wasn’t great but it had the basics. Overall a satisfactory place to stay for a good price.

The location is perfect. The building is dated but it is kept up well enough. There is a loud banging sound occasionally. I never figured out where it came from. The worst problem was the traffic noise coming off Patton Street. Until about 2 am, you will hear loud mufflers right outside your window. It is very difficult to sleep.

Motel built in 1963 is very well maintained with the rooms completely up to date, super clean and fresh. Bed utterly comfortable, not too hard, not too soft. Spacious king size room with all mod cons. Offers a wonderfully convenient and affordable stay in the heart of historic downtown Asheville. Friends staying at the top hotel ($600/night) were just a short walk away (5 mins or so). Did not partake of breakfast but looked like the norm with great hours (early to brunch) and a waffle station. Only shortcoming was slow loading tv that is easily overcome with strong internet streaming on one’s own device.

Always our go to when we visit Asheville! Can’t beat the location!!

Main complaint was the woman at the front desk- and I say that loosely- bc she was rarely at the front desk- there was always a sign they were away and to call a number. They literally must employ 1 person per shift. When she was actually there she was slow as can be and rude- so rude. We could not find a parking space anywhere and wound up getting a ticket bc we had to park in the lot behind and she refused to help even though the person previouslyhaf said they would help us. Also if given a choice choose mountain view not road view- we got no sleep because apparently the place is also a favorite for loud motorcycle gangs to gather.

The hotel's location was perfect to walk everywhere downtown. Beware that it sits on a busy traffic corner, so you hear motorcycles and trucks all night long. However I would stay there again for the convenience and free parking.

The location is good and the price is good for that location You get what you pay for so this isn't high end accommodation but still it does look a little worn down

The location was also convenient and made getting around very easy. What stood out most was the excellent customer service and attention to detail that made the stay feel special. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable experience.

Nice hotel with parking, staff great Our room was on the front and it was VERY noisy with traffic. The windows stopped none of the noise . The curtains had to be either ole or closed. Otherwise, everyone could see into your room

The location is central to downtown Asheville and is easy to hit the breweries on the south slope and downtown. The housekeeping staff does an amazing job considering the age of the property. It is a clean bed and bathroom and that is about it. Just to set expectations, there are exposed pipes but the water pressure is great and the room was clean. The showerhead needs to be replaced. It was totally worn out. The selector was on full massage. When I tried to turn it, it would not turn. When I finally did get it to turn, it sprayed water all over except for on me. The second day it started with the full massage and I just dealt with it.

I stayed on the backside of the property and it was so quiet. Room darkening shades blocked out all the light which is what I need for a good nights sleep and the bed was really comfy. This property is walk-able to anywhere in Downtown

The location is fantastic and the room was a good size and clean. The motel has a mom and pop feel which we prefer to chains. Everything downtown is walkable from this spot, the view from the walkway outside the room was nice, and parking was free. This was the only affordable room in downtown one the day we needed it, and it was what we expected based on the other reviews. We went in with low expectations based on the reviews, so none of this was surprising. Low water pressure in the shower was a drag. Carpeted floors in hotel rooms are always gross, but we brought flip flops. The old, dark furniture was worn and drawers didn’t all close. The mattress was firmer than we like but it didn’t sag. The electricity went out on one side of the room when we plugged one phone charger into the power strip. The giant floor to ceiling window was nice, but there’s a walkway outside. If the curtains are open, everyone walking by can see in the whole room, including the sink area, but when they’re closed, it’s pitch dark in the room. It would be nice to have sheers under the blackout curtains for options. There were several glowing lights in the bedroom (too bright for sleeping) but no nightlight in the bathroom, so we turned on the overhead in the toilet room. The bathroom sink is open to the bedroom and the window, so no privacy except in toilet/tub area where there was a door, but it was very had to open. Pillows were small and lumpy. All that said, you get what you pay for. Other hotels downtown were all at least $150 more a night. (Asheville has gotten very posh!) We slept okay-ish and skipped the breakfast. We would probably stay at the Downtown Inn again for a night because the price and location are great.
