Spacious and clean but poor soundproof.

The reason for choosing this hotel was that it was rated as a 3 star, highly rated in reviews and moderately priced. The reviews may have been based on rooms that didn't have our problems. The 3-star rating might have been the results of taking a 2-star hotel and doing minimal retrofits to check off boxes. The experience, however, was closer to a 2-star than a 3-star. Although there were some updated items in the room, such as modern bed, backboard, desk and chair, lavatory and mini-fridge/microwave, it still smelled like an old motel, had an incessantly drippy faucet in the bathroom, and little to no effective sound control around the door to the hallway or window. My wife slept with a pillow over her head. I just woke up multiple times from neighbors going in and out the hallway doors and engines starting up in the parking lot. We went and bought some scented aromatherapy to bring into the room to overpower the normal smell.

The only reason I booked the hotel was because it had a pool and hot tub. The hot tub was completely empty because it wasn’t working properly. The hotel itself was terribly out dated. It was worth about half of what I paid. The check in employee was very kind and professional. He was the only good thing about the hotel. My room did not look anything like the pictures online. Very run down. If it hadn’t been so late after driving all day I would have gotten a refund and found a different hotel.

Good management and staff!

Good price, comfy beds, quiet and updated rooms, right near Monticello and downtown, yummy breakfast (real eggs and crispy bacon). The night manager even let us change rooms because our room was stuffy from the air conditioner turned off. She (Gloria) even came up to check on our new room. Where else does someone go out of their way to satisfy? I would stay here again and go again to Thai Cuisine and Noodles (best thai food anywhere).

I was pleasantly surprised. I honestly hadn't paid any attention to it being an actual hotel bc of the odd location, but I just needed a mini overnight getaway and this was perfect. Super close to home, clean and inexpensive. I'd stay again. Note that the air conditioning unit is super loud!

Good location and breakfast

They have a small gym next to the pool that we did not use. We enjoyed being in the indoor pool for a bit; they have towels there that you can use. We were excited to use the hot tub, so we were bummed that it was not open. It seemed it was being cleaned out or something. The free breakfast was great, with delicious make-your-own waffles, fruits, and coffee. They had a wide variety of food items. Overall, our stay was pretty comfortable and excellent. The only downside was the unexpectedly non-functioning hot tub. Other than that, I highly recommend this place!

We were late coming down for breakfast and the girl brought out eggs and bacon for us after everything had been cleaned up. We thought that was very thoughtful I felt like the carpets were stained which even if they are vacuumed it just isn't a good. Other than that the room was comfortable and clean

Clean room, staff was ok, hot tub was broken and pool was cold

A great location if you’re visiting Monticello or the James Madison estate and a decent value, though some parts of the building appear a bit tired. A very friendly, helpful and wanting to please front desk staff.
