Loved the character of the old house. The hangout areas were great. The staff were super cool and helpful. I also really liked how many individual bathrooms and shower rooms there were. Loved the privacy curtains on the beds and the shelving with a personal light and plug--nice touch and super helpful. Even though tidy, everything was just a bit gross and dirty. The photos are what sold me, but they don't show the thin layer of yuck and old weed stink that hits you when you walk in the door. The bedroom where I stayed smelled so awful of feet and sweat, I couldn't even sleep. They just need to get a cleaning crew in and deep clean regularly. Leaving used towels on the bed instead of in a bin might be part of the problem. I love a hostel, but even hostels can be clean.

Perhaps this was a one-time mistake/error on their behalf, but it so happened that the day I booked, a lot of things were going wrong. The AC was broken in the main room where we all slept, and consequently, it made it extremely difficult to go to sleep or relax. The solution to this issue?: Duct-tape (and not a surprise to learn that this did NOT work). The other visitors with me, whom also happened to be guests, worked together to fix the AC ourselves. This is not withstanding the fact that an extremely uncomfortable situation unfolded when the workers barged into our room at night to kick a visitor out. Though it was the correct course of action to kick him out, since, he had been verbally harassing the workers and other guests; this, nonetheless, did extremely affect our stay and experience.

The stay is an experience in itself. You’re going to meet all sorts of people from all over the world. Everyone was super friendly. I was fun to talk and hang out around the fire pit at night. It takes about a day to get settled in and get used to how a hostel operates.

The decor and amenities were great! The curtains and the structure of the beds gave great privacy and did well in blocking the room light. No foil or plastic wrap to use.
