We were pleasantly surprised by this historic gem in the small town of Florence, SC. The best part was the in-hotel restaurant called “Victors.” The waiter was so warm and helpful in recommending food and drinks for the whole family. It enhanced our experience greatly!

The style of the building.

Nice old historic hotel with most of the original detailing preserved while they still updated and modernized the rooms. Victor's restaurant is fantastic and they even let us take our half drunk bottle of wine and the two glasses upstairs to our room when we were finished with our delicious dinner. 100% better than staying at a cheap hotel close to 95 on your drive north (or south) from Florida!!

This is a beautiful place. We look forward to staying again

Disappointing

We loved the Hotel Florence! It was our 1st visit to Florence..everyone we met were very nice. Loved the Cru Wine & Tap located in Hotel. Also ate at Victor's in the hotel it was delicious. Walkable to other shops, restaurants & bars.

A nice, well-maintained historic hotel. The hotel staff was away from the front desk a lot, and the restaurant staff was a bit unorganized with our reservation. We had to wait 10 minutes past our seating time and there were lots of tables open. Otherwise, it was a great experience with a great bartender and good food!

I did not stay for breakfast
-
Good quality breakfast. Would have liked a few bread, muffin or bagel items More bread items

Also, parking can be an issue
-
Nice concept in this old building but we will stay elsewhere next time -

Historic building, quiet, well situated with free parking and restaurants and civic sites within easy walking distance, good breakfast but for a fee. Small room. Expensive for the area, no breakfast of any kind provided except for coffee.

Dinner at the restaurant was dismal. My had roasted chicken that was old and over cooked. Her MacnCheese had a funky overly sweet taste. The only thing she liked were the 3 Brussels sprouts. I had all night intestinal distress from a spinach salad with a small piece of salmon. Top this off by the restaurant charging us $10 for two to go coffees from a pot that had been sitting there for hours. We tossed them before we got to the car. There’s a new Hyatt Place less than a block away. Save your $$$ and stay there.

Do most part room was clean and straight. Had dust webs in ceiling corners as well and layers of dust on the exhaust fan in bathroom. Water took forever to heat up causing me to miss a shower my first morning because I couldn’t wait for it to heat up Staff later advised to run both shower and sink together to get hot water quicker

The TV didn’t work at all. When we told the front desk, he said he was aware and that’s been broken for a while (so why wouldn’t you tell us before checking us in??) and offered to move us to a diff room, but at that point, one of my children already fell asleep so that was out of the question.. stinks. We were on the first floor and the walls are paper thin. It was hard to sleep at night because we heard foot steps from above all night and it sounded like elephants above (I’m guessing it really wasn’t elephants, just normal movement but the walls aren’t sound proof) Overall, the hotel was fine but I wouldn’t return due to these service hiccups.

Not used

The room didn’t have a fridge or freezer. I was disappointed with this because I had some food to keep cool. It was close to train tracks so you can hear the train throughout the night. Bring ear plugs!

Nice room. Good breakfast. Interesting town

I like to support these old hotels, but when their owner does not keep them up there is no reason for me to support them. No one at the desk to check in meant a 10 min wait for someone. A very small room with no closet at all. None. Tried to eat bfast there, but couldn't not get a menu. Got some coffee off the buffet and it was cold. Only food on buffet that was supposed to be hot was also cold.
