We were there for three days and throughout the entire time only one elevator worked in the entire hotel.

Lovely hotel

The location is the best!!! That is literally what you are paying for. If you are not huge on amenities and you are there just to experience the beach and not the hotel then this is great. The hotel had one working elevator and rooms were very small for the money. No frills. The hotel is very unique and it is true what they say weird things do happen at this hotel. By weird I mean room cards having to be rekeyed and a jerky elevator. The staff amazing. Very friendly and professional. There was a wedding going on this weekend that at times were an inconvenience for other guests. The shower head? That thing was silly. I have had nice shower heads wasn't sure what that was didn't match there theme at all. The property itself was immaculate. Gardens were beautiful. Beach area is in a no swim area you have walk several yards over to swim. All and all it was a very Unique hotel.

Room was clean and staff helpful but amenities were limited - no refrigerator, poor lighting, room space was limited.

Beautiful hotel in great location! Excellent for pics and great time with family.

The property was gorgeous. Rooms, hallways and elevators were clean and well kept. Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were updated and relaxing. The staff were nice across the board. Even the guests were in good mood which I saw as a reflection of such a wonderful staff and property. This will be our family go-to-hotel in Galveston from this point forward. Only had one elevator working during our stay but it was easily negotiated.

Everything was great except for the fact that we were put in an ADA room unexpectedly, and the walk-in shower, which had no door or curtain, did not drain well and somewhat flooded the bathroom, even after a short shower. This really needs to be addressed and solved ASAP.

Amazing hotel and staff
-
It was a nice place and I love old hotels that are kept up. A lot of the places on Seawall blvd are closed and honestly some of it looks gloomy. There are places that have been there for years that were still fine and nice. I guess some are trying. The bikes that are complimentary were no good. They’ve been in the salt air way too long.

Beautiful Hotel. Comfortable stay!
-
Beautiful, historic hotel, right in front of the Gulf Staff was unprofessional, first room had hairs on pillows, night stand, and shower. Bell service was difficult to get, and we had to finally just cart our own bags. They tried to charge us $25 extra for undisclosed Resort Fee, and then changed their minds when I declined to pay it. The second room had paper thin walls and we could hear every word spoken by guests in an adjacent room. Toilet seat was loose, and there was no mini fridge

But full

Excellent hotel filled with old world charm. Very similar to Broadmoor or Hotel Del Coronado -- built in early 1900's but excellently maintained. Beautiful upscale charm with modern flair. All hotels in Galveston are across the street to the beach. Nice beach area. Beach area staff so-so. Not very organized and definitely not good services except for manager Evan. He was awesome. The rest kept saying they'd bring things and then didn't. Need more lounge chairs on weekends.

Cons: Valet parking — very little parking options otherwise.

Location, amenities, rooms, food, andservice were top notch. The bar area needs more bartenders for the busy hours.
