Motel 6 San Diego Airport - Harbor

Nothing fancy, but a clean place to stay for the night.

Clean room, comfortable bed and close proximity to the airport were just what I needed after a flight delay resulted in an unexpected overnight stay. The rooms are spartan, amenities very limited, and extremely noisy location with no soundproofing. I did not feel particularly safe there as a single woman, especially given that the desk clerk was locked in the office behind a plexiglass window when I arrived and I had to walk across a dark parking lot by myself at midnight. Desperate times call for desperate measures and a room was available when I needed it but, if you can plan ahead, I am sure you can do better!

On the other hand, the shower, bedding, toilet, and towels were all very clean. The airplane noise (from being directly under the flight path for landing planes) isn't bad in the rooms. The reception staff were friendly and helpful, especially the guy who checked us in. We didnt use the pool but it looked fine. I guess with the rates being what they are, you get what you pay for.

Construction began outside my door at 11pm. Clerk said manager would comp me in the morning. Morning clerk said there was no manager and Motel 6 wouldn’t comp even $10

11 o’clock at night, MASSIVE street construction began about 20 feet from my room. I paid $100 for about 3 hours of sleep. Motel 6 staff basically said “Too bad. That’s tough luck”. Unethical business practice. I have stayed here many times over 6 months. Never again.

VERY ATTENTIVE TO OUR NEEDS, PERFECT THE POSITION, LESS THE SECURITY AGAINST METAPHYSICAL ATTACKS, BUT MORE THAN IN OTHER HOTELS, NO privacy, but this is in many hotels still so, but this one better than many hotels, we are happy about this hotel!

Location was its USP, close to downtown Its an old property, can benefit from some renovations.

Comfortable bed, clean room, friendly / helpful staff. You will hear the planes (until about 11:30pm) and the trains which enter the underground tunnel just behind the hotel. This is not necessarily a "don't like" as you can expect noise so close to the airport but it's something to be aware of.
