My mom and I had an amazing stay during my birthday weekend! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and appreciated. The hotel is beautiful, full of historic charm, and has such a unique character that made our trip feel extra special. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring San Diego. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly, professional, and genuinely kind. A special shoutout to the valet team—they were professional, timely, and incredibly sweet. Every interaction was pleasant, and they always made us feel valued as guests. Their excellent service helped make our stay smooth and stress-free. We especially loved the cozy atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and convenient location. The hotel’s historic charm is what drew us here, and it exceeded our expectations. Celebrating my birthday here made the weekend even more memorable, and I’m so grateful for the wonderful experience. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting San Diego. Thank you for helping make my birthday weekend so special! 🎂✨💕🏨 Highly recommend—five stars all the way!

The housekeeping service was fine the first two nights then non-existent the next two nights.
-
Beautiful piece of San Diego history. Carefully updated to provide modern amenities without losing its historical charm. Cannot wait to stay again.
-
Excellent overall experience would love to stay there again
-
It was clean and well kept. No real amenities other than the connected restaurant with limited food. The main image is misleading, there isn’t a usable courtyard.
-
We enjoyed our stay but have some suggestions They need safety bars in the shower Counter space in the bathroom was almost nonexistent The chairs outside on the balcony were covered in bird poop There is no bellman so you have to take your own bags to and from your room There are hidden charges in the parking that are not posted which makes parking around $90 per night up from $62 We feel that at the price of the room these things should be addressed Staff was friendly and helpful

Very good

Really liked the historical ambiance. Yes, the bathrooms were a bit small - but we looked at this as a charm. We loved the grand staircase as a treat and used it rather than the elevator. noisy HVAC.

Outside noise was an issue while trying to sleep. Was woken up about 130am with hollering on one night. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and the valet crew was awesome. Enjoyed eating our first night at the Salt & Whiskey...John was great! Would stay again but would prefer an inside room.
-
Good location that is walkable to so many eateries, The Rady Shell and Convention Center. The Hotel is unique, looks historic and had a spacious room with a queen pull out sofa sleeper. I would stay again.

When you step inside, you really get the historic feel and grandure that this hotel has earned. Everywhere you look a piece of history is right there, in addition despit that feeling the hotel itself is comfortable enough for the modern world.
-
There was a problem with the shower diverter on Room 225 where I stayed, this needs to be repaired so as not "waste" water and improvse the guest's shower experience. The water pressure was weaked because of the water not transferring efficiently.

Great place! Stayed because of a concert at PETCO. Did have a cleaning just walk into my room at 0800 without knocking. She said it was because I didn’t have a “DND” on the handle. I was kinda angry. Otherwise, no issues.
-
The hotel was a very nice boutique hotel! Room was clean and easily locatable. The bed was comfortable and the room rate was not bad. We will be staying here again.
-
It was a very nice hotel, staff was friendly. It was close to dining and shopping. Our only complaint would be there was a wedding we didn't know about and even then it wasn't too noisy. We'd stay here again
