Big Pines Mountain House

I really like that it was near down town, the room seemed cleaned but we found an old saline can underneath bed that was not ours made me questioned how clean the room was.

I liked that it was close to village center. The microwave didnt work was the only problem

We were here for a wedding. It was a beautiful venue and ceremony. Spent the weekend here and had a great time.

This is a very classic mountain motel - nothing fancy but clean and well maintained with a great location. Walkable to the lake, hiking, etc.

Room was clean, parking was easy and it's walking distance to the casino. The staff was helpful. Parts of the room were rough like the flooring but, it is a high traffic region. Overall I would stay again at Big Pine.

That said, we ran into several issues during our stay that the hotel management could really improve on: No paper towels or napkins provided. When a room comes with a kitchen, basic supplies like paper towels and napkins should be included. The hotel did not provide any and declined our request. This wasn't mentioned anywhere during booking or on the website. Broken flush tank. The toilet flush tank was not working when we arrived. It seems no one inspected the room before check-in — we had to report it ourselves. No phone in the room, which made it difficult to reach the front desk. Poor lighting throughout. The room was very dimly lit and uncomfortable to use in the evenings. Poorly placed, hazardous lamps. The lamps were positioned carelessly and could easily cause injury. Room heater not working. We were given a plug-in space heater as a replacement. It worked, but a functioning built-in heater should be standard, especially in a cold climate like Tahoe. Housekeeping refused. When we asked for the beds to be made and fresh towels, we were told it's against hotel policy to service rooms unless the stay is 3 nights or longer. Again, this policy was never mentioned during booking or on the website. They only agreed after I pushed back on it.

The two lights just outside the room were so bright, we kept thinking it was daylight, until I unscrewed the bulbs, just to get a little darkness in the room. There were no black-out shades. The staff were really nice, and you could tell they wanted to please the customer.

Unforgettable experience

Just a heads up, you might be sharing a door with another room. It’s locked for safety but just keep that in mind. Unfortunately our next door neighbors wanted everyone to hear them having mediocre sex.

We had a very comfortable stay. Everything was great and we loved the atmosphere of the property and its neighborhood.

We had an amazing time staying at this place. Staff was very nice and helping, location was good and price was great.

Neighbors can heard clearly through the wall hotel is old and outdated. Refrigerator and floors were dirty, mattress had a dip on the right side of the bed which made me sleep in the center of the bed
