The price point for one night was okay. The hallways and room had an old smell. Walking past taped up room doors felt uneasy, like something bad occurred in them.

I should note that the staff was very friendly.

They didn’t offer the free drinks. We asked and said they were out of the mix and were waiting on a new concentrate from corporate even though there was a full bar right behind the guy checking us in. The phone in the room didn’t work. There’s nowhere to put your shower toiletries in the shower. The toilet paper roll was almost gone and no replacement in the room. There was plastic wrapping all over the hotel: on the floors, doors, elevator. It felt like we stepped into an episode of Dexter. Hallways and elevator smelled like old crayons and were hot. This was my 3rd time staying here. Never again.

clean room

To start, there was No smoke detector in our room, visible black mold in several places, the refridgerator was filthy, dented and scratched up. This is before we get into the smell of the hotel and room (smelled like a frat house that has never been cleaned and it's the end of the school year). Stained carpets and splatter on the walls of the hallways. The thick dust in the rooms aggrevated my asthma. I have NEVER stayed in a hotel and had to make our own beds without being provided proper bedding. The "stash rrom" had no "stash" of blankets, pillows or supplies. I paid full price only to act as my own maid, housekeeper, and fire inspector. Marriott (who owns The Moxy, was once a trusted brand I relied on for a clean, safe stay for my myself and my family. This experience completely destroyed that trust. Never again. I will gladly take my business to competitors and share this experience with other parents, including ASU parent groups and platforms. If I could rate -10 I would. Shame on you Marriott!

The room itself also had a very bad odor, to the point that we had to buy air freshener. While I will say the water pressure and hot water were some of the best I’ve had in a hotel in a long time, that alone is not enough to make me want to return given the safety concerns, smells, and lack of follow‑through.

Bad bad experience

The hotel was spacious and well lit. A highlight was the complimentary cocktail when we arrived. There was a touch of negligence here and there. My wife and I enjoyed playing against each other on the pool table, but had to work around the tears in the felt and the deteriorated condition of the cues. The long walk down the corridor to our room was on a multicolor carpet that had seen better days. I know the hotel is meant to be centrally located, but Rural Road is notable for its speeding, noisy drivers and a lack of accommodations. For example, there are a couple of restaurants right across the street but the only pedestrian crosswalks are far away.

They put us in room 132 and when you walked in it smelled like . They were real nice about getting this into a new room. I think it was something to do with the AC unit.

From exposed telecom recepticles to calcium deposits on the shower heads, the room was a case study for deferred maintenance. Couple that th
