The Ankeny Diner delayed breakfast opening until 9am because of Father's day brunch. There were no signs or notices, and according to another guest the front desk clerk didn't even know about it, nobody at the hotel was made aware of "no breakfast" ahead of time.

Overview says breakfast is included, however, it’s a discount coupon to use at next door restaurant. Not the same thing.

This time around I feel as if they are lacking on their upkeep and cleanliness of the property. Our room this time around was not to bad other than the window was open with no way to close. I had mentioned this to the front desk on Saturday morning and they assured me that maintenance would repair while we were out during the day. This did not happen. Overall, the stay was alright. Just wish they would have been able to fix the window as this was a concern for many reasons. I would give them another try.

It was clean, convenient and has a great location.

Love this place let me check in early and was kind and helpful..I recommend to all 100 percent …..

The hotel was decent, the bed was made, sheets clean. There is no elevator and my room did not have black out curtains so it was a rough morning getting woken up early by the sun coming in the window.
-
Only complaint was housekeeping kept cleaning by our room every morning. Felt they could have cleaned somewhere else then right in front of our door
-
Room was very clean. Reserved a king room and was given two queens but other than that fine/

A hotel can be clean and provide tea and coffee but if the bedsheets are worn out and rough textured, it’s gonna ruin your night. My bedsheets were soooo bad. They were worn out so badly that the fabric has balled up and it made them really rough textured. I wish I could attach a photo. It’s like when your clothes rub for a while that you notice the fabric has formed little balls on it and it becomes rough textured. That was my bedsheets but it was so rough that I couldn’t sleep on it. It was disgusting! I had to move over to the middle of the bed because it was only on the sides where a person would normally lay. And my other complaint is that after my shower, the room was so steamed up that the floors and every surface was wet the entire night. I tried holding the door open to the hallway but it didn’t help. So I was walking on wet floors which bothered me.

So to start with check in staff were not very helpful. They saw I had a cart full of things, but didn’t tell me there was not an elevator. Yes that is correct, 2 floor hotel that didn’t have an elevator!! Next in a remodel of some type they didn’t measure correctly for the new toilet. The door got stuck between the bowl and jam. My husband had to manhandle it free, so of course didn’t try to shut it again. I had to crawl over the toilet in the morning to get to the shower. There was not a curtain you could close over the window to keep it dark in the morning. Glad it was raining and overcast, else it would have been brighter. The TV stated Direct TV on Demand free to watch. Anytime we picked a show to watch, the station went back to the start point. As there was not breakfast provided, we used the walk way to the diner next door. Had a wonderful breakfast in a charming atmosphere. The waitress saw our card key envelope on the table and asked if we were staying next door. Replied yes why? She said they should have given us vouchers for breakfast, but as she saw the key card she gave it to us! Final straw was, they were standing outside to clean the room as we were leaving. We still 30 minutes. We took everything out of the room and placed it in the hall, and told him he could start cleaning. He asked could he help carry things. I said no my husband was coming back for rest. I started carrying stuff down the stairs and the next thing I knew the man was carrots rest!

They say there is breakfast but they give you a voucher to go to the deli next door and then one of their workers had no idea how the voucher worked and tried to charge me to the point I was not going to do this everyday. I think the folks who run the place are sweet but wyndham clearly slapped their name on it and did some renovations but truly skipped the basics.

Maybe a two star hotel. Stains in the carpet. Even the attached Ankeny Diner food was poor. AC unit in the room was loud and you couldn’t really control when it would run or not. Windows were half sized and we looked into the roof if you were tall enough to see out the window. Would definitely spend more to stay elsewhere

I felt like our room could have been cleaner especially the bathroom area.
-
There was a smell in the room that was awful!, shower curtain kept falling down, needed fresh paint as there were stains on the walls. Would not recommend!
-
Location Rooms had a bad smell and Bath tub was floating. Could not stand properly to take shower worried about falling while bathing. Bath door had latches and not proper locks. Nightmare for elders who needs support.
-
The place smelled musty. The pool tile was dirty and the pool was cold. Looks like it was renovated recently, but poorly done. There were no extra pillows available and they were out of pool towels.
-
The room was clean, but the fit and finish of all the tub area and the bathroom was very poorly done. Plus the toilet was loose from the floor. The shower control valve handle came off in our hand. The TV remote wouldn’t work unless you were standing right close to the TV. The barn door going into the bathroom wouldn’t hardly open far enough to get in the bathroom. Other than that it was pretty nice. Ironing board cover look like it had mold in one end of it.

Check in went well. The room was spacious, but the smell wasn't good. TV, fridge, and microwave worked well. The bed was somewhat uncomfortable and the pillowcases on the larger pillows were too small. The bathroom and the ceilings could use some updating. A pipe under the sink leaked a little. Breakfast was good, and the staff in the dining area was very friendly. The ice maker nearest the room did not work. The children had a blast in the pool area!

Don’t bother. We had to stay here for a baseball tournament and I honestly cannot believe they would offer this as a hotel option. It looks nice from the photos online but the place is a dump. They have updated certain things, like the front desk, to make it look fresh and new but as soon as you walk down the hallway you can tell they really haven’t done anything. The carpet has to have been there since the 80’s. The second floor has no air conditioning in the hallways so it is extremely hot in the rooms when you first enter. The pool in the middle of the building was gross, not maintained well. We had two doors to our room, felt really weird and we could hear everything going on at the pool. No housekeeping and breakfast was a few options at the sit down diner next to the hotel, not great when you have to dine and run to get to an 8 am game. One family had no air conditioning and their tv fell off the wall in the middle of the night. Seriously don’t stay here unless you have to.

Extremely noisy late into the night. Teenage girls and boys running around being very loud.
