Lenox Hotel and Suites

About Lenox Hotel and Suites
The Lenox Hotel and Suites has a rich history dating back to 1896. As the oldest continuously operating hotel in Buffalo, NY the building is now both a hotel and residential building in the heart of the Allentown district, just minutes from downtown. Numerous restaurants, bars, and shops are within walking distance. Due to the age and historical significance of the Hotel, there are no rooms that are wheelchair accessible, and the use of stairs is required to access the building. There is an elevator inside to access the floors in the Hotel. Please contact the hotel directly for further information on accessibility. Every room features a 32-inch flat screen cable TV, Wi-Fi, microwave, fridge, and off-street parking. Lake Erie, the Central Business District, Delaware Park, Buffalo Zoo, Canalside, Buffalo Museum of Science, Explore & More Children's Museum, and much more are all within 3 miles. Niagara Falls is 20 miles away, about a 25 minute drive.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for my graduation. I suggest the rooms should have more safety features on the room doors. The door on the inside has no physical lock expect for the chain. The door has no peep hole so you can see who is on the other side of the door. The vents in the bathroom should be cleaned or covered they drop very gross things as one is showering. I think if you added like a breakfast that be cool. I love how they still have the phone booth and the hotel is close to everything. The beds were advertised as Queen but were actually full size beds that sunken in the frame was broken . My family and I also encountered something very disturbing at 1:43am with someone trying to get into our room stating they had a doordash delivery when we never ordered anything. I would say also at least 2 water bottles in the room and tea bags as well. And they dont give enough towels for at least 2 guest nor enough soap or shampoo if one were to use it. I will also say the smell of the hotel and rooms are very stale. Our room smelled like wet dog and mildew..I think the curtains need to steam or disinfected once in a while. Our TV remote didn't work. I would say for a quick stay the hotel did the job. The staff is pleasant. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. Would I give it another chance and stay again yes if I didnt have another choice. If you like vintage decor, elevator and all then this is for you. Niagara Falls State park is a smooth 30.

Good location, pretty basic accommodations. We just needed a place to stay for an overnight. Dated, no amenities, but totally fine for what we needed.

Simple, plain, but clean room. Door numbering on 8th floor quite confusing. Room in need of fixture updating.

There were a few downsides to staying at the Lenox. The hallways and room both smelled heavily of bleach, and my wife didn't like it from the start. It's a 130 year old hotel, so a lot of things felt run-down or dated. For example, there were very few available power outlets. The tub in the bathroom has no method of stopping the water to create a bath; it's a shower only. There used to be a restaurant downstairs, but it is permanently closed. It's not the greatest neighborhood, and they lock the doors at night to keep locals from wandering into the hotel (that's been an issue). The attached parking lot is large, but available spaces fluctuated wildly during our stay. The staff gives you a parking pass to avoid getting towed, but one night there we returned at 2 in the morning and there was only one space next to the dumpster. We were awoken by the hotel staff at 6:30 with a request to move our car, and by then there were many spaces available. The price is competitive, though, and the hotel is close to some places we wanted to go, including the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site.

could have used small xtra like a hairdrier

The location is outstanding, the staff is fantastic, the parking is included, the room is comfortable. It’s a fantastic budget option in a non traditional hotel/apt multi use complex. It’s not super updated but it’s clean and comfortable with essentials. The curtains are a little too long and occasionally interfere with the a/c. A little rigging of the curtains helps.

Staff were amazing and while the room was smaller than I anticipated it gave us a really good view.

It’s an older building, and you can tell. The elevator scared me, the doors didn’t want to close at one point and the noise was a bit unnerving. The rooms were clean but didn’t feel like a hotel, more like a one room apartment building. Not somewhere I would feel comfortable going again.

Cool old building. Affordable. Close to downtown. Bed was kinda soft and old. No fitness room.

Superb

Good downtown location at a good price

So disgusted with the property (it is a transient hotel with “permanent” residents that smoke (cigarettes and pot), there are no “suites” at the inn & suites, there was no hair dryer, the tv shut down 5 minutes after starting it, no drawers to put clothes, 3 hangers…we left after 1 night.

Everything. We really enjoyed the hotel. The staff are so friendly & helpful. Thanks Renae for all your tips. -

Asked the front desk lady for a recommendation for a place close to there for happy hour and getting some small bites, her response was to go downtown. If I wanted to go downtown I would have stayed downtown. I wanted recommendations for THAT area. Anyways, the elevator was nostalgic of old NYC, which was cool. Getting to our floor there are ZERO signs of where to go and about 5 hallways. It was annoying and smelled like patchouli. Hated that. Room didn't smell like it at all tho, but was just weird... Idk how to explain other than it felt like the type of place you would see in a movie where people are behind the walls watching you. Not saying that happened, just saying all the hallways and the bare necessities room, just gave it a vibe. Shower drain was DISGUSTING looking but we didn't notice til next morning since we headed out immediately. Toilet was tiny. No ventilation fan. Bed was not made for "adult activities" as it was not bolted or affixed to wall or floor, so that was awkward. Just all in all I can honestly say this was a terrible experience and I would never stay here again.
