The room is big but the fridge is not working properly. The sink has slow drain and coffee maker is not working. No complementary water as well. For the cost of a five star hotel but only het like a 3 stars one.
-
the room we were placed in was under the main restaurant and we could hear the chairs moving. nice hotel and location however alittle over priced.
-
A brilliant and lovely hotel and restaurant, great position.

Not all rooms at this hotel were updated and the one I got didn’t look like the photos on Expedia at all! I booked a king size room with ocean view. When I checked in, the woman at front desk told me she “upgraded” me to a suite. Little did I know, the room was on the ground floor, tucked away in the corner of the property, I had to walk past the kitchen and some offices to get there. And it’s next to a rooftop bar, which was loud at night. She didn’t mention any of this at check in and acted like she did me a big favor. I saw her again at check out. She didn’t ask me how the stay was or any of that. I brought up the room wasn’t as expected and she was not apologetic at all and kept saying it’s twice the size and all rooms were updated in 2018. At last, she waived the resort fee “for the misunderstanding”. The whole conversation made me very uncomfortable and I definitely will not stay this hotel again.

Arrived at 3 to check in and they said room would not be ready until 4. No lobby area to speak of, only 5 chairs and bar was completely full with only six tables and outside the bar was a restaurant that was empty and man said it was for food only. Another large restaurant area was empty, so why did the hotel didn't have another area to wait. When we did check in the couple in elevator said they arrived at 1 to check in and had to wait until 4. Don't waste your time here, there are other places to stay in La Jolla!

The location is the best part of this hotel. It’s iconic rose imposing on La Jolla.
-
The staff of the hotel was absolutely top notch. Great location. Being a historic hotel you get the good and bad of that. Great location, great aesthetic, along with small rooms and other issues that come with older buildings. Worth the stay for a weekend in La Jolla.

Loved the view, atmosphere and location.
-
Classic hotel with beautiful views in the heart of La Jolla.

The staff were nice. It was easy to walk to shops and restaurants. I reserved a triple room which has a King bed and sofa sleeper or two queen beds. The hotel said it was not reserved so the first night they did not have a room so I had to sleep on cot the first night.

The room is large but a little dated. The service at reception was great but the restaurant was not great.

Unfortunately, this was the least satisfying hotel experience of our USA trip. The room was extremely small, had an unpleasant smell, and the air conditioning was very loud throughout the night. The room also had a connecting door, and the sound insulation was poor, so noise from outside and neighboring rooms was constantly noticeable. We made our reservation 15 days in advance and expected a much better experience for the price we paid. What disappointed us most was that although we shared our concerns, no real effort was made to compensate for the situation or improve our overall experience. Overall, we did not feel this hotel offered the comfort, quality, or value it promises, and unfortunately we would not recommend it.

I paid a lot of money for an ocean view, but it was obstructed by tents, port a potties for a marathon. I wish the hotel would have informed me that the marathon was happening right outside my room.
-
Still, one of the most pleasant, relaxing properties in the country. A classic old school La Jolla hotel.

This hotel is very unique and once you enter it and are on the grounds, you feel like you could be in Paris, Barcelona, side streets of London. It is such a little boutique, wonderful spot with great service and the difference between all those other places is la Valencia has unbelievable ocean views. Our room was Via Eleven and it was marvelous spotless, and a very good size with a beautiful patio overlooking the park in the ocean. The concierge and the front desk staff were great. We were loved the valet guys and they made us laugh so we felt right at home. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
