Location is good, staff was helpful There was street noise in the nights, so many nights hard to sleep. I think there was some window open in the toilet, but could be some other source as well.

Sain James Dinner food was great! One elevator worked very slow as someone with a messed up achilles tendon it was not fun to walk up and down flight of stairs the building is 11 stories mind you.

I loved the character and decor. I liked that they had an espresso machine, ear plugs and the extra amenities in the room. That they didn’t. At least provide one free bottle of water to use on the espresso maker. That the steamer they had was not checked. I had opened to add water and a bunch of brown crust came out.

Cool older hotel on the surface. Little worked once you were inside. A bit like the Hotel California. To start with, the elevators are non-functional in a 12 (or so) story building. Rooms are minuscule with very poor ventilation, the phone system doesn’t work and it doesn’t matter because the staff doesn’t respond to requests for hours anyway, front desk is a bit “zombiesque.” Parking and room are both atrociously expensive. The French restaurant next door is a fair value and has helpful and empathetic staff—a high point. The parking valets were also friendly and helpful. What a strange, never to be repeated experience.

Customer service was terrible. One slow operating elevator that everyone fights for. Noise level is terrible. The structure of the room needs improvement. I have to squeeze between the bed back and forth to get to a sink

I truly appreciate the nostalgic vibe of the hotel; it creates a warm sense of stepping back in time. The setup is very comforting, and the staff are excellent, making the experience even more special. I really don’t have any issues if anything the retro or the vibe that gives off is just chill.

The rooftop view was nice and the location overall was not too bad. Very noisy area, but good for going out in the evening. The elevators are over 100 years old. Only one of the two elevators worked and they were extremely slow. When we got there and checked in, our room was supposedly already cleaned. When we checked the bed, it was dirty with hair and other things on the sheets. They moved us to another room and that bed was also dirty. Some hair and possible fluids on these sheets. They were completely booked for the night so they couldn’t change rooms. It took him a few hours to change the sheets when we wanted to rest and get up to go out. Ended up missing the whole first evening because of that.

The Entrance area looks at least interesting. Everything, it was not clean, it was extremely loud. The staff is clearly annoyed. Hairs in the shower from the previous person. Piles of dirt and dust behind the bed curtains where you sleep. The price and the way it is advertised is a scam and misleading. 50$ for a night when you need to place to stay would be okay for that torture. Some of the ratings must clearly be paid for. There is no way.

This is an older hotel, restored with charming details, but may not be for everyone. The elevator is manual (I took the stairs) and no direct room service, but there’s a restaurant next door.

From the outside in the entire property is in pristine condition and the vintage vibes were incredible. the staff was polite and friendly, helping me with places to walk too around Gaslamp. I will definitely be coming back and will bring others with me!
