Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Richmond Airport

We only stay over night between flights. We were extremely impressed by the staff. Every encounter was friendly, polite, helpful, and welcoming. Both shuttle drivers were beyond pleasant. Desk staff smiled, had pleasant personalities, and were extremely helpful. The restrooms (in room & in lobby) were clean and stocked. Housekeeping held open elevator doors while wishing us a pleasant evening. The room was clean, neat and stocked. All employees treated these two weary, tired and frazzled travelers like we were old friends that they were glad to see.

Helpful with shuttle to Airport

We only stayed one night but the staff was super helpful, curtious and accommodating. One issue, they never responded to my text message asking about the airport shuttle. I sent the inquiry weeks before our visit and even sent a follow up a day or so before our visit - no response. Other than that we had zero issues with the hotel and its staff. We'd certainly stay there again.

Location was convenient. Room 109! This is a ground floor room near an exit door, food prep area, etc. Room 107, next door, is the closest to the front desk, and I'm fairly certain it had overnight hotel staff hanging out in the room. They were talking loudly, and we could hear them very easily.. We finally called at 3 am because we could not sleep due to the noise. This should be a room of last resort. Not sure what I did to piss off the front desk staff to get assigned that crappy room.

The breakfast buffet had a variety of options but not high quality. Pretty much grab and go. It was .. okay. Room was a room. Decent space. The wall unit does not turn the AC on, you need to use the window unit to turn it on. Staff was polite, friendly and responsive. The bar was not open while I was there though. Something about not currently having a bar tender on staff. But the sister property next door had a slightly bigger bar. Also, again, nothing special but you can certainly grab a glass or 4.

Breakfast was fantastic!!! waffles, eggs, little spinach, quiches, bagels, muffins, oatmeal with all the fixings. And the coffee was actually delicious.

Amenities advertised included an airport shuttle. This was the major reason for my stay. Once I got there, I was told I could not leave my car. An airport shuttle is useless if you cannot leave your car.
