Lovely and felt at home. Beautifully maintained. A rare jewel of a B&B.

Let me start by saying that the place is impressive. I was looking forward to my stay after booking. The biggest issue: the room was hot. I struggled to fall asleep on the amazingly comfortable bed due to the room being so hot. I did lower the thermostat, but the room just never cooled off. There was also cobwebs in the bathroom....I want to go back and maybe request a different room.....I wanted to give a 3 star across the board, but the property was so impressive I just couldn't go that low....the lack of personal staff interaction was also annoying.

Like taking a step back in time. This grand old home has been restored beautifully, and the interior appointments are as impressive as the exterior. If you like older homes (B&B) don't miss this one if you are passing through Little Rock.

At the Empress James is a perfect host and took care of everything we needed. We would stay again if our travels take us back to Little Rock.

We were able to check ourselves in without any problems. The property’s public areas were wonderfully decorated with turn of the century/ gilded age antiques. My only complaint was the lack of human interaction, I can only hope the proprietors get a welcoming robot in the near future.

Absolutely beautiful property. A bit disappointed by finding stained linens and a partially smoked end of something in our room for what we paid.

Nice stay for a night or two but it was hot in our room (we are hot sleepers) and we cannot turn off the light without also turning off the fan. There is a high pitch noise that was constant and not loud but enough to disturb sleep if you are sensitive sleepers like us. No black out curtain. We enjoy the place but didn’t have restful sleep. Perhaps not for people who are light sleepers. Owner/host were responsive and communicate quick. Well kept and safe property - just old, as it is

We arrived near sunset, entering the house to find ourselves alone in this large Victorian home as if we had stepped into the past or, perhaps more aptly, a movie scene. The silence would induce a ghostly feeling in anyone, which felt rather fun to me. Admittedly, less so for my wife. Adding to that vibe of the initial walk-through was the rather dark interior, complete with the occasional taxidermied occupant. We had to use iphone flashlight to read the room nameplates but once opening the door the suite did not disappoint. We left for dinner and, upon our return, discovered the place well-lit and inviting enough to marvel at the period details so elegantly appointed throughout the entire home. The staircases were impressive, as were the room arrangements on the second floor. The landing offers a rotunda that manages to fit seven bedrooms, each of generous space and openness. It is truly a magnificent place and the stay became a memorable delight. I found the comments in the room ledger binding me to others sharing the happy impressions their similar experiences had left on them. We very soon loved it. To say the neighborhood does not inspire confidence would be an understatement. It doesn't warm one on arrival nor give the home the surroundings it richly deserves. The nearby dwellings have barred windows and I would venture few, if any, stroll the grounds after dark. That said, a small but vibrant trove of eateries and nice bar or two are just a minute or two drive away, We had no issues.

It is important to know that there is no visible staff at this hotel. There is no check in counter, no one to help you or answer questions. The building is not accessible to anyone who needs help with stairs, carrying suitcases, etc. No one comes in to change linens, make the bed, etc. While it seems to be a historical site, it is not comfortable and lacks services that most travelers are used to.

The Eliza room had very nice sheets. The bed was a little squishy for our taste so we didn't sleep the best. The head board made a lot of noise too. The bathroom is small so there's not much room around the sink to get ready. The room was nicely decorated as well as the rest of the home.

Authentic antique mansion. Clean and comfortable.

Not included. I used to own a bed and breakfast and customers choose these kind of settings for the delicious food and conversation with host as part of the experience. See above

Clean room, lovely decorations and breakfast was great!!

Parking was easy and secure. We missed having breakfast. At the present time, proprietors are only able to provide coffee & recommended a local bakery where we purchased delicious scones. I would advise older adults with mobility issues to try to book carriage as Eliza room and other rooms in house required climbing long staircase. Fortunately Ben, one of proprietors, offer to carry our luggage. Overall it was a positive experience.
