As soon as I got to my room, I noticed a huge makeup stain on one of the beds. I called the front desk right away, and they had the sheets changed, but once I noticed that, I started seeing other things too. There was a coffee stain on the wall, multiple stains on the carpet, and the bathroom honestly didn’t look like it had been properly cleaned before we arrived. I’m big on cleanliness, especially when I’m paying to stay at a “nicer-end” hotel, but the condition of the room left a bad taste in my mouth. To make things worse, neither the TV nor the phone in the room worked. I was in town for several events and barely spent any time in the room, so I didn’t have time to keep calling down and complaining, but the issues definitely didn’t go unnoticed. I’ve stayed here plenty of times and have always recommended this hotel to people visiting DC. Something felt off this time around. I’ll definitely think twice before staying here again.

Wonderful place to stay. The hotel shuttle to the Mall and Wharf were great. All staff were friendly and helpful. Views were spectacular. Pool was warm and we used it every night.

Absolutely beautiful hotel!! The staff was so helpful and accommodating. Will return to stay again and dine at the restaurant Dogon, the food and service was superb

Clean room with exceptional views, extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Restaurant was only okay, but the bar was excellent. Would stay again with no hesitation!

I absolutely love the Salamander. For the past two years, every trip to the DMV area requires a stay there. I love the cleanliness of the rooms are comfort of the beds. For the most part, the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. However, during my most recent stay I requested an amenity for my bath via the test messaging service and never received it. I’m not sure if this was a technology issue or if someone simply dropped the ball. Nevertheless, from now on I will call the front desk with any requests rather than utilize the text messaging service.

This hotel was one of my favorites when it was still the mandarin oriental. It just doesn’t have that same class and grace anymore. The staff are not well trained and everything takes an excessively long time. The food in the lounge was terrible. The cocktails were the same as a pub and lacked craft. Turn down service was completely skipped for me, so I had to call to get additional water and coffee pods. The tv’s do not have chromecast or app capabilities, leaving you with basic cable options. This hotel felt more like a 3/4 star rather than a 5 star. Not a horrible stay, but there are certainly much better options.

Amazing stay. Clean room. Staff was awesome. Even though our first room had some candy wrappers on the floor and a charger they upgraded our room to a better room. The in room service was amazing as well. Would definitely stay again!? It’s close to everything.

Only stayed one night. The location is not the best but it is brand new and very nice. It was formerly the Mandarin Oriental. It is a very nice hotel.

Last minute stay booked for an overnight. I’ve Stayed here twice now and had great experience. I never visited the indoor pool but so great to hear both indoor and outdoor pool! A little disappointed no mini bar in room and paid 89$ with service fees for room service for the $59 bottle of wine that costs me $13 at Walgreens but it’s what I expect at a 5 star hotel! Room service food was delicious both times!! Will stay again for location and if still great price! Would love to see hotels in area offer locals a discount!
